This morning we got another look into the story of ‘Injustice 2’. Follow along with us as we discuss the highlights of this new trailer!
Superman and Batman are Still Enemies (For Now)
After apparently breaking out of his holding cell, Superman has a confrontation with Batman and it’s clear that their ideological differences are as substantial as ever. Batman seems to be trying to talk Superman down, but fails as Superman is still advocating for the cause of the Regime: to eradicate crime completely no matter the cost.
Batman and Superman usually don’t see eye to eye in their methods, and the Injustice conflict takes their differences to the extreme. However, we saw in the first story trailer that a larger threat is taking shape behind the scenes, leaving an opportunity for Bruce and Clark to drop their differences and join forces once again.
In the first ‘Injustice’, Cyborg is allied with Superman’s Regime. With Superman looking to reinstate the Regime, it looks like Cyborg will once again join. He’s first shown giving Batman a warning, “I won’t hurt you unless I have to.”He’s then shown to be in battle with Blue Beetle, who is an ally of Batman and an opposer of The Regime.
Cyborg’s new costume design looks great, and it looks like his new finishing move will involve boom tubes, which is pretty darn cool!!
Supergirl’s Loyalties are Challenged
When it was revealed that Supergirl’s role in ‘Injustice 2’ would be to free Superman and join him in the fight against his captors – it seemed obvious that she would be aligned with The Regime. This trailer shows there’s more to the story; however. Superman tells her “Hope isn’t enough to save the world”, which is very contrary to their core values and even their family crest that they display on their costumes.
Then, as Superman warns her “You’re either with me, or against me”, it’s obvious she’s shocked and perhaps even afraid of what her cousin has become. Will she choose to lay her convictions aside and join Superman, or will her lack of faith in Superman’s cause lead her to oppose him?
Injustice 2 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One on May 16th, 2017.
