Entertainment Weekly has released the official first look at Jason Momoa in the upcoming Aquaman solo film.

Jason Momoa is reprising his role after his debut in Justice League and a brief cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In regards to how Aquaman will differ from Justice League, director James Wan says this film is “going to look very different, it will feel very different — aesthetically, tonally, story-wise — it’s my own take.”

Wan also addressed Aquaman’s reputation and what this film will do to change that, “Aquaman has been the joke of the comic book world, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought how cool that would be. Let’s take the character everybody makes fun of and do something really interesting with him.”

Aquaman is the next film Warner Bros. will release in the DC Films continuity, and is set to release December 19th, 2018. For more information, read Entertainment Weekly’s full interview.
