Ben Affleck Won’t be the Director of ‘The Batman’

Today Ben Affleck has officially announced he will not be directing ‘The Batman’ according to an interview with Variety. Here’s his statement:

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

This isn’t necessarily bad news, as it seems he is sincere about doing what’s best for the movie. He’s also tated in the past that directing while dressed as Batman might not be the most ideal setup.

Considering the amount of time and effort Affleck has put into ‘The Batman’ this far, I’m confident that he’ll choose a the right director for the job. The best case scenario is that WB and Affleck are able to find a director that complements the story they’ve created, and Ben is given the space to focus on being the best actor he can be for the film.

What do you think of this development? Do you think ‘The Batman’ is better off or worse off without Affleck in the director’s chair? Let’s talk about it in the comments below!
