Reborn #5 Review

Reborn #5 continues Bonnie’s and Big Tom’s adventure to find her husband Harry. Which has been bringing them across both the Dark Lands and Adystria, to both old friends and new foes. Millar and Capullo have managed to take us on an epic story in only 5 issues so far, with #6 being the finale.
Millar uses this issue for retrospect, allowing the characters to look back on their previous lives. Allowing them to have conversations that they weren’t able to in the past. Reminiscing about their time together and how it all goes by so fast, the cycle from kid to elderly.  Not only that but how this afterlife can give them another chance to do more and start a new life all over again.

As for art, the Capullo and Glapion team continues to amaze here. This particular art style is one of my favorites, maybe being a big New 52 Batman fan has something to do with this. It is really nice to see them staying together for this project as they compliment each other’s styles. Add in Plascencia’s colors and this is yet again a beautiful comic all around. From the cheery bright panels to the dark and brooding, this art team is really bringing their A game.

With a story that seems so simple Millar has really expanded upon it over the last few issues. I find myself looking forward to the end but at the same time dreading it, I want to know more about this world. While the story does feel like it is coming to a close, there is so much more in this world to see and play with. I can only hope that this series is continued down the road at some point.
