Spider-Man Deadpool #1 Review

Spider-Man Deadpool #1

After months & months of putting this series off I have fully dove into what is Spider/Deadpool, and boy am I glad I did. Being the big Spider-Man fan that I am I went into reading this series with high expectations.

The series takes place after the Superior Spider-Man Era and during Deadpool’s Avengers days. So at this point, Deadpool has acquired some kind of moral compass and Peter Parker has built an empire of technology enhancements that helps improve society. Known as Parker Industries.

So this is what I can say about the series so far, Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 is filled with jokes, sexual tension; gross-out gags, and slightly self-aware super villains galore. This series really shows Spider-man and Deadpool’s love, hate feelings for each other, while it all spirals out of control into a very promising epic bromance. Issue #1 leaves you wanting to know what happens next on the edge of an epic plot twist and makes you ask questions you are unsure if you will ever get answers to.

Joe Kelly. Ed McGuiness and Mark Morales’ art is smooth with a side of WTF but it truly helps the story move on at a fun pace. There may be an over-reliance on bathroom humor due to the first villain but there’s also jokes about Uber’s terrible labor practices with some great puns for Individuals whose eyebrows are glued on higher than the rest of us. All in all, I will definitely continue to read this series with a smile on my face as turn each page of each issue.

9.5 / 10
